Nosy Be, which in Malagasy means the big island, is a renown tourist destination of Madagascar, although it remains one of the few tropical islands remained untouched and not subject to mass tourism. The most commonly spoken foreign languages are Italian and French. The tourist season is from March to December. The rainy season lasts from January to mid-March and is not recommended for sport fishing as it is often subject to strong tropical storms or even cyclones. Nosy Be is connected with Europe through weekly flights, direct or not, departing from Milan, Rome, Verona and Paris. Flights are operated by Neos Air and Ethiopian Airlines. It is also connected to South Africa through weekly flights operated by Airlink.
